Here It Is, The Most Obnoxious Quote About Michigan Football Ever By Michigan Football
(source)
“Name another school that competes with the bluebloods athletically – we’re talking Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson – while competing with the bluebloods academically: Stanford, Northwestern, Princeton. Most of the players we recruit are good enough to play for Alabama or Clemson and smart enough to play for Ivy League schools. If you don’t win in the classroom on Monday, you won’t be here for many Saturdays.”–Matt Dudek, Director of Recruiting at Michigan
Here it is, finally, in plain English. A quote that perfectly summerizes how Michigan men think of themselves. They see themselves as an Alabama-Harvard hybrid putting out not only the best and brightest, but biggest and baddest. It’s a quote that you can read and go “Oh this is why I hate Michigan”. And people say Notre Dame fans are arrogant and delusional. At least Notre Dame has been to the College Football Playoff.
This guy is playing pretty fast and loose with saying “competes with”
If one out of 15 is competing with the bluebloods then I guess Northwestern fits this guy’s description too. And…Northwestern has actually been to a B1G Championship game so even the Wildcats have Michigan beat there.
The quote, again, came from Matt Dudek, Dir of Recruiting. Apparently he exclusively recruits kids without cable and internet because that’s the only way he can walk into a recruit’s living room, tell him they compete with Ohio State, Bama, and Clemson without getting laughed out of the house. Michigan hasn’t been Nationally relevant since 1997 and if they’re honest with themselves it’s really been since the 70s.
Michigan is getting hyped to the moon this year and why…year 2 of Shea Magic?
It feels like there’s an element of “well Urban is gone and maybe Ryan Day is Luke Fickell 2.0″ around the Michigan hype. They get Notre Dame, Penn State, and Ohio State at home…still won’t matter. Michigan isn’t a playoff team. We will get another image like the one below again and when it happens I want you to remember that Michigan thinks Michigan is Clemson and Princeton rolled into one.
